This binary property defines an organ as the source or the producer of a body substance.

Such an organ is often the initial segment of a substance tract, producing the substance that is transported by the tract. Examples: the kidney, the liver or the testis. On the contrary of other segments of substance tracts, these organs are not organs with cavity.
